Client Subversive Guide Book Series
Client Challenge Create an engaging brand feel and layout that speaks to the subversive, Gen X target
of the guide book series.
Solution Guide book placement in stores would be in freestanding displays near checkout. Positioned as a
kitschy, impulse buy, the books had to be visually different with an immediate aesthetic appeal. A 3 color cover was chosen to
provide a bold look reminiscent of the guerrilla-like printing process and style of the books' name. Playful graphics for the
less playful topic of cosmetic surgery speak to the tongue-in-cheek tone of the series. Interior layouts remain user-focussed while
incorporating less traditional layout elements such as icon-based page numbering and bold chapter titling.
